Make your Mark Exhibition

I am delighted to be showing some of my prints at Longitude Gallery in Clitheroe, Lancashire, close to my previous hometown.

The exhibition of printmaking runs until the 19th December 2018, many thanks to Sarah Clemson for the invitation to be involved in the exhibition.

Papermaking

Papermaking with Elaine Cooper at Bath College: My intention for this course was to create beautiful papers for printing onto at Spike Print Studio, which I did in addition to experimenting with developing my collograph prints using text and pulp. The Sorrento theme reappeared in a ‘pulp’ painting and my intention is to continue to explore this theme over the summer!

Private View for Year in Print Course

Spike Island Print Studio End of Course Private View, Centrespace, Corn Street, Bristol: Very excited and happy to be part of this exhibition which showed so many amazing artists from four different courses at Spike Print Studio. My work on show included two of the prints from my Sorrento Beachuts series, plus two prints inspired by my Totterdown neighbourhood, one collograph and one monoprint….. there’s a bit of an ‘angular theme’ going on here!

FINAL PROJECT for Year in Print

Final Project Year in Print: began designing image for my final piece, inspired by photographs taken on my visit to Sorrento, particularly the seascapes showing Vesuvius and the fabulous shapes of the beachhuts around the sunbathing decks…… and the beautiful Mediterranean aqua, turquoise and deep blues.

My final pieces were printed using a combination of paper stencils, monoprinting techniques and photographic stencils, combining the painterly techniques which excited me from the monoprinting and the beauty of the beachhuts in the photographic overprints.

I’ve been exploring Collograph on the Year in Print Course at Spike Print Studio. Fascinated by the different effects using Intaglio and Relief Printing techniques. Enjoying experimenting with overprinting and colour on the collograph plates created from sketches and photos around Totterdown where I live. I love the acute angles of the roof shapes and the pattern created by the houses and rooftops layered upon each other as they climb up the hill.  I’ve also created lots of textures using card, glue and papers  to represent layers found within the landscape….even used seeds and bits of dried flowers!

Two weeks of monoprinting on the course ….used paper stencils initially and then a more painterly technique working directly on the screen Loved this!  I liked the immediacy of the process, working loosely and with a range of different media onto the screen.

Loved playing with colour and experimenting again with the Totterdown house shapes.
